UNIVERSITY OF KELANIYA

Faculty of Humanities - Department of Linguistics Diploma in Translation and Interpretation Calling for Applications - 2024/2025

Applications for the entry of the above diploma will be entertained by the Department of Linguistics from 28 July 2024 to 31 August 2024. 

This course has been designed to provide the candidates with theoretical knowledge and practice in translation and interpretation.

Course Structure: 

I Tamil-Sinhala Translation Diploma (for candidates who have skills in Sinhala and Tamil) 

II English- Sinhala Translation Diploma (for candidates who have skills in English and Sinhala)

Course Duration: 

One academic year. Lectures will be held every Saturday from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm at the university premises (onsite), with some online lectures. 

Course Fee:

70,000 LKR (seventy thousand rupees) The first instalment of 40,000 LKR (forty thousand rupees) should be made at the time of registration, and the second instalment of 30,0

Minimum Entry Requirements

Passing the G.C.E. (A/L) exam

 or equivalent qualifications

or professional experience of 10 years, as required

Commencement: October 2024

Application Fee: 

The application fee of 750 LKR should be paid to the account number displayed in the receipt generated after completing the online application.

 and send a printed copy together with the receipt issued by People’s Bank upon the payment of the application fee, and copies of the birth certificate, NIC, and A/L result sheet, to reach The Coordinator, Diploma in Translation and Interpretation, Department of Linguistics, University of Kelaniya, Kelaniya on or before 31 August 2024, indicating “Application of Diploma in Translation and Interpretation – 2024/2025” at the top left-hand corner of the envelope: 

 Incomplete or delayed applications could be rejected as the number of admissions is limited. Priority will be given to the order in which applications are received.
